S & U Stores

I may have the wrong thread as the S&U was a credit store, not really a shop as such. They used to provide credit, a bit like the Provident, and you could pay weekly for cash amounts or items. I remember my Nan used them in the 1960s and their building was so tall, it towered above the rest. I think they were near the Bullring, does anyone remember them and the big S&U sign on top?

Yes, I think I remember the place, when I worked in Town back in the early 70s some of us went for a lunchtime meal there as there was a cafeteria inside. The building was round the back of the Bullring on the Markets side if I remember?
Other than that, I don't really know what sort of place it was.
