I know they are not of Brum but thought Bus afficionados may be interested.

These are owned and operated by some nutters from Radio 2. They include Alan Dedicoat (from Hollywood, Wythall and brother to Ray), Ken Bruce, Charles Nove (Radio 2 News reader) etc.

Talking of Routemasters, here's a pic of my colleague and I with a Routemaster that Midland Rider had used on the 177 route, for a couple of weeks, some time ago.

The Other Red Bus.

Lovely bus, the Routemaster. But not a patch on this other red bus of similar vintage: ;)

Ah the days when two great bus companies designed their own vehicles.

Not sure if it was the same with MR but I was told once that the Rotemasters had the bare minimum of instruments and warning lights. If any of the safety devices detected a potential problem a 'Flag' would drop in the drivers view with just one word on it 'STOP'. The argument being that if they provided gauges or warning lights they would have drivers stopping and calling in for trivial issues that were not serious. Having had an uncle who drove for London Transport I can well believe this story as he was as bolshie as they made them.
