Any help appreciated!! I'm trying to trace a birth certificate or birth date information for my late grandfather, John Robinson. I'm having little luck trying to trace any further information on him than what I have. I have a death certificate and a marriage certificate.

Information I have:
Name - John Robinson
Date of birth - 15 January, 1921 (none of this is listed on marriage or death certificates however 1921 can be deduced from age at time of death)
Place of birth - Birmingham, Warwickshire
Name of father (on marriage certificate) - John Robinson
Name of mother (on marriage certificate) - Ada - (last name not listed)
The family reports that they think he was an orphan from birth, and that he was enlisted in the British Army from the age of 15 (ie. approx 1936), whereafter he served in Aden and Palestine, and was injured in service.
He emigrated to Australia following service, so sometime between 1936 and 1955
Married May Beatrice Barram in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia 10/12/1955
Died in Brisbane, Australia 24/01/1979
Following his death my grandmother received a cheque in Australia from the British Army/British Legion for around £2.50

After all my research I now think it is possible that:
- He had a middle name
- He went by a different first name
- His birth may not have been registered if he was an orphan???

In searching passenger lists I have had no luck with John Robinson born on 1921 with no middle name. I am awaiting Service Records from the MOD but have only been able to provide limited information so am not hopeful.

At the moment I'm following the path of looking at orphanages he may have been in but am having trouble finding names of orphanages/homes in operation at this time. I have contacted Father Hudson's Society with no luck from them. I'm hoping someone will be able to help :)
