Robinson Amy of Barnsley Rd

Brummie babby
Actually, originally posted under Amy Parkinson (her maiden name)...hope it's not confusing, but I've had no responses in the two years it's been there...& perhaps the Robinson surname (from her second husband) is more logical.

Her son was Geoffrey York Wade (one of 4 sons actually) & he married Margaret (Saull) next door, who was living with her mother.

Amy remarried a Tom Robinson in 1913; he died in 1948 while she survived till 1952.

There were also two brothers (the eldest was the only child not born in Edgbaston) who both emigrated to South Africa:

William Benjamin (b1866 Allendale Nothumberland): an engineer in a coal mine near Pietermaritzburg (not so far from Durban).
He married Florence Nightingale Collier (a widow, nee Buchanan; 10 years his senior) in 1899.
They had one child, Florence; haven't found her anywhere else so not sure she survived childhood.
One of William's stepdaughters, Constance Collier, was staying with Amy in Birmingham at the time of the 1911 census.
Constance married a year later so I wonder if the trip over had anything to do with that?

By 1911 William was in Canada with wife and her elder daughter Rose Collier.
Looks like he stayed on there alone and died in 1948 while his wife and all her children went back to South Africa.

Thomas Maynard (b1873): was a banker in Rosettenville near Johannesburg.
He married Anne Fannie Smith Ranken from Edinburgh in 1909 - twelve years his junior.
They had 2 children - William Maynard (b1910) and Joyce (b1912); sister Edith was a godparent to Joyce, but not sure she was really present in SA.

Father William (born in South Shields in 1844) died in 1903.
Eliza (nee Walton? b. Chelsea 1843) lived until 1935; think she shared a house with her unmarried daughter Edith, who died in a fire in 1945 (suspect she was living with Amy at the time).
