In my local an Irish builder said to me I found a medal when I was replacing a sewer pipe in Birmingham about 30 years ago. He brought in a 1914-18 Star that had been in a drawer for years!
The name on it turns out to be Rifleman John Harris Whitehead, 12th Bn. KRRC who died on 21st March 1918, age 19. He is commemorated on the Pozieres Memorial.
My chum really would like any relatives of Rifleman Whitehead to have the medal retuned to them.
i spoke to a chap at KRRC Association who said he would make some enquiries about him. The only biographical info I have is his parents were Arthur and Annie Whitehead and he was born in Birmingham and later moved to London.
I would be most grateful if anyone here could point me in the direction of gathering more information about him.
Thanks in advance.
