Richard Worrall 1823 Pearl button maker, Bridge St West, Birmingham

Hi,
I'm really trying to find his parents.
In my quest I noticed that there are others in this family in the same trade, sometimes Worrall,Warrell or Worrell.Would this trade be mentioned in any directories in the late 1700's , early 1800's?
I've purchased a marriage cert for him and his bride Eliza Savage.
Parish Church, Edgbaston, Warwickshire 26 Dec 1844Richard Worrall (signed himself) Full age bachelor Pearl button maker Hagley Row Noparents Eliza Savage (Xmark) Full age spinster Bristol Road Fathers name Thomas Savage Steel toymaker Curate Henry Piscell (Purcell) In presence of Abraham & Elizabeth Dodd's X mark
He's in 1841 census in Cheapside, Aston, apprentice caster with sister Jane Worrall, miliner. In 1851 he's with Eliza and family in Bridge Street West.
Any ideas please?
Best regards and thanks
Lulibell

Thanks Mike,
That's good to see, I've got a few more leads there thanks.
Can you find Richard himself in any directories or doesn't he appear?
(I only found William last night in the censuses, similar age to Richard, not sure if Samuel could be his father, John I wondered about, born c 1785)
That's great!

Thank you so much, that is really helpful and interesting.
Confirming and adding detail to Richard, more addresses to compare to the censuses that I have.
More relationships to sort out.
I can see to where to look for further records.
(I haven't been able to find Richard's baptism)
You are helped me out again, Mike!
Much appreciated.

Glad to be of help Lu. I have just corrected the address for J & R Worrell in 1858. I didn’t notice that it copied wrong (it should be 12½ rather than 124).
You might be interested in the picture below, which I took of no 61 Kenyon St just before it was demolished around 1970. No 53½ had already been demolished

Wow Mike
I'm very impressed with your memory and your filing system.
Perhaps behind is the flats where his grandaughter was living at the time of the photo; it would be a huge coincidence if it was. (Scholefield Tower)

Actually my filing system is pretty awful, but I did know I’d taken afew around there, so thought it wass woth checking. I’m not quite sure which block of flats is in the distance. It’s probably been demolished now! Some other members might have some idea. It would be looking out towards livery street direction

Thanks again Mike,
Don't worry about the flats, folks.
I'd be pleased to hear from anyone else with connections to these Worralls or has any bright ideas for tracking down Richard's parents.
Lu

Hi Lu, to narrow your search the Samuel Worrall of Bradford Street is my Gt.Gt. Grandfather. His wife Hannah is in the directories after Samuel died. He married at Edgbaston Parish Church in 1831, so it is possible that there is a link between him
and your Richard. Samuel was baptised at Cannon Street Meeting House Baptists in 1805, although he was born in 1802. He had a sister Jane and brother Joseph, their father was Joseph Worrall, but I have never managed to find his birth or marriage to Mary.

Hi Di,
That's really interesting and helpful.
Have you looked for Joseph in Stourbridge or further afield?
I say that because I think I may have mentioned before the Stourbridge Worralls. Some of the Birmingham Worralls may be connected to this lineage .
Richard's daughter Lavinia is my 2Xgt grandmother who married Edward Pugh. I'm sure we'll find out where our trees link.
Let me know if you'd like to see my tree or if I can introduce you to "my not quite yet tree cousin".
I'll have another look at these Worralls tomorrow!
Interesting that you have a Jane in your tree too, mine was born c1819 and married a Mr Smith in a church in Aston, one day I may send for this cert but I doubt whether it will have their parents on. Oh well, we may never know for sure!
Happy hunting!
Best regards,
Lu
