Richard Samuel Cooper; Pawnbroker

ellie

master brummie
Seeking info on a Richard Samuel Cooper born 1844
In the 1881 census( 4 Heanage St, Aston) he was listed as a gun Action Filer and his wife Alice was a pawnbroker.

I have been given the following information:
In 1891 census (14 Barn St, Birmingham) he was listed as a pawnbroker
In 1901 census( 152 Coventry Rd Aston) he was listed as " working his own account at home"

Does anybody know what this would mean?

1892 kellys (referring to 1891)
14 Cooper Richd. S. pawnbro
1904, 152 coventry rd Baines Rev. Thomas Charles [curate
1900, 152 coventry rd - not listed

ellie it was 752 nor 152 coventry rd on the 1901 census and he was working on own account at home but still listed as a pawnbroker, so he was running his pawnbroking business from his home.

Shera you have given me some good leads before. You are telling me the address as 752 Coventry Road, yet the other sources are saying 152.

Do you mind checking for me?

many thanks

Sorry about my misreading of the number. Following from that, in the 1900 kellys (refering to 1899) the occupant of 752 is given as Mrs Cooper, which implies (to me) that Richard was not living there then fior some reason.
Mike
