Rhodes of Shropshire

Mr Zippy

master brummie
Hi,

Not Birmingham, but I am delving into my maternal grandmother's family now. They lived in Shropshire in the 1800s. I know that her grandfather was William Rhodes and that his father was Noah Rhodes, who was born around 1816 (no relation to another Noah Rhodes married to Mary). I think he remarried, but I am struggling to piece together fragments I have on his first wife etc. If any one has researched this name, grateful for any info.

Cheers.

William rhodes 1843 Sedgeley son of Noah and Frances.
Noah Rhodes married Frances Jandrell june 1840 Wolverhampton
ref. 17 257

Transcribed Rolades in 1851.

Dimmacks(?) Lane,Sedgley

Catherine Longman age 61 widow Householder b. Dudley
Noah Rolades age 35 b. Shropshire
Frances age 29 b. Shropshire.
William age 7 b. Sedgley
George age 2
Mary J 6 wks

It would appear that Frances died in June qtr 1856 and Noah married Rachel Palmer in dec qtr 1856
does this fit what you have already?

Thanks Alberta - that is teriffic!

I was disappointed that Noah did not appear on the census, but I would not have thought of Rolades as an option. Yes, this information tallies with my existing research. It would appear he did not hang around in remarrying!
