Researching a “ dissolved “ marriage, any suggestions of best place to start please .

Hi, whilst researching my family tree I see that on my parents marriage certificate, my father is noted as having a previous marriage which was dissolved, I had known he had been married before wedding my mom, but I had never enquired about the details, I would just like to find out if the lady had survived to a happy life and what was meant by a dissolved marriage without causing any distress.

I assume dissolved just means divorced?

Just look for the likely marriage and then if you find the name of your father's first wife look for another marriage for her. Sometimes a woman is listed with both her maiden name and married name when she marries again.

Also is she was born before 1939 and she appears on the Register it may list both/all her subsequent names.

That's all assuming she married again.

We can look if you give us a name and year of your parents' marriage.
Thanks MWS, my mom and dad married in 1953 in Birmingham North, dad was born 1898 William Fredrick Elliott, I can’t seem to get past this marriage to find previous wife, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
