Relations?

This might seem daft, My sister in law has a daughter so a niece, my niece has a daughter, what relation is she to me?

me thinks
To put it simply, your niece’s daughter is your grand-niece. You are her grand-aunt or grand-uncle. However, unless your family is very formal, you’ve probably never heard the terms “grand-aunt” or “grand-uncle” before. Instead, you’re probably used to hearing “great-aunt” or uncle and a great-niece or nephew

I would have always used to say she was your great niece and you were here great uncle but on some ancestry sites they would list her as your grand niece and you as her grand uncle (the brother of her grandfather).

If she is not your brother's grand daughter then step...

Yes I've pondered is it grand or great or niece once removed. :) not that it matters much, I was telling a friend that the lady concerned was one of the 'Young doctors' on tv way back but is now a heart surgeon. Struggled to give her a relationship that fitted.
