This might seem daft, My sister in law has a daughter so a niece, my niece has a daughter, what relation is she to me?

To put it simply, your niece’s daughter is your grand-niece. You are her grand-aunt or grand-uncle. However, unless your family is very formal, you’ve probably never heard the terms “grand-aunt” or “grand-uncle” before. Instead, you’re probably used to hearing “great-aunt” or uncle and a great-niece or nephew

Yes I've pondered is it grand or great or niece once removed. 
not that it matters much, I was telling a friend that the lady concerned was one of the 'Young doctors' on tv way back but is now a heart surgeon. Struggled to give her a relationship that fitted.
