Reeves family Kings Norton

chrisy3

knowlegable brummie
I am trying to find a possible connection between a Thomas Reeves born 1781 in Kings Norton and an Enoch Reeves married at St. Martins church in 1780 to a Mary Thorn.
All my Reeves family were called Thomas down the line, and I am hoping to find a connection ie. that Enoch was an uncle to my Thomas.
Enochs daughter was later born in Kings Norton as well. Not knowing the area would it be possible to have that many seperate Reeves families all living in Kings Norton at the same time?
I also have a possible connection a Simon Reeves married Sarah Taylor again at St. Martins.
Would St. Martins be the local large church to Kings Norton or are they a long way apart.
If I can find a connection between Enoch and Simon I might be able to go one generation back and find another Thomas which might be my family. Sorry sounds really complicated. If anyone has any info would be great especially for christenings at St. Martins of Reeves with parents named in 1700s.

Your query was posted quite a while ago, so you probably have your answers by now. However, if not, you might try the IGI which has extracted records for St.Martins for much of the 1700s. You can reach it through Hugh Wallis' site (https://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~hughwallis/IGIBatchNumbers.htm#PageTitle) navigate to England-Warwick-Birmingham-St.Martins. I took a quick look and noted baptisms of four children of Enoch and Mary Reeves at St.Martins (and a fifth at St.Phillips).

St.Martin's was apparently the original parish church of Birmingham- it appears to be about 10 km from Kings Norton, where the parish church, St.Nicholas, has also been in business for a long time.

I too have several Thomas Reeves' in my background. My great grandfather Thomas was born in Birmingham in abt 1822, his father William in abt 1798. I believe that the latter was probably the son of Thomas Reeves and Mary Moore, married in Aston Juxta Birmingham in 1783, and the grandson of Thomas Reeves and Mary Hayward, married in St.Phillips, Birmingham in 1759. I would be interested to learn whether you've encountered any of these Thomas' in your research.

regarding the first post by chrisy, the marriage at st. martins was enoch reeves to mary THORN not thom. they were both "of this parish" and bachelor and spinster. the witnesses were john and ann thorn.

Yes, I had noted that. However, Chrisy went on to mention that she was trying to connect Enoch Reeves to a Thomas Reeves. This peaked my interest because I have also been researching various individuals named Thomas Reeves, and wondered whether she might have come across one of mine in the process.
