Redhill Hay Mills.

master brummie
Has the Redhill pub in Hay Mills always been called the Red hill ?

Reason I ask, is that I drove past the other day, and noticed that there is some script written around the walls 'St George for England' or something like that - but hard to make it out, especially as I was driving at the time.

col h, Its always been The Redhill Tavern in my memory from pre WW2, i have the full scroll of the words when i can find it, drunk many a pint wth a Rum in there in my youth!. Len.

I did some research into the 'Redhill Tavern' believing the pub had a family connection, which as it turned out it didn't.

What did surprise me was despite its appearance the building isn't really very old.

The writing around the wall of The Redhill Tavern is 'Ye Saint George he was for England, And before he slew the dragon, He quaffed a flagon of good old English ale", it was built in 1926 in Tudor style. Len.
