"Red Lion" pub near a fish market?

I’m writing a non-fiction book about a young man from Birmingham who ran away to sea in or around 1837 and ended up founding a dynasty on a remote island in the South Pacific which his descendants own in perpetuity. I have a letter from one of his descendants who says the young man decided on life as a sailor after being attracted by the “sea stories and songs of the sea men who gathered each evening at Red Lion Fish Market to share their interests and of the sea and their travels”. Red Lion Fish Market is how it's referred to in the letter. I’m hoping one of the history experts on here can help me identify this pub or inn. Was there a Red Lion near a fish market in Birmingham in 1837 and if so can you tell me anything about it? Thank you for any help you can provide.

The 1841 Pigots directory shows a Red Lion at 2 Bull Ring, quite near to the Fish Market It is still there on the 1880s OS map, as shown below, Fish market in red, Red Lion in blue

Thank you so much. This sounds like it could be the place. Do you know if it was popular with sailors as the shanties sung in the Red Lion mentioned in the letter I referred to were the inspiration for the young man in question

Unlikely to be Birmingham, it's about as far from the sea as you can so you would not expect to meet any sailors here, only bargees off the "cut".
