Red House Road / Yardley Fields Road, Stechford

Does anyone remember the big House at the end of Red House Road, off Yardley Fields Road?
There was a dirt road from Yardley Fields Road through to Manor Road Recreation Ground and on the right was a big detached house owned by a Miss Davies. Back in the 50s it was falling down round her ears and, I presume, it must have been demolished to make way for the new housing estate built on the park.
Just wondered if anyone else can remember it and the Lady.

I have very fond memories of both the house and the Lady, especially the hundreds of cats that also resided there!!

In late 1940's before Bordesley Green East was built our route towards the city was along Yardley Fields Rd. I vaguely remember the red house, but didn't know anything about it.

Jim,
To my certain knowledge Bordesley Green East existed long before 1940. Certainly as far as the Outer Circle route.

I agree but the stretch between The Meadway to the outer circle wasn't cut until 1950's. Not so sure about the bit between the outer circle and Stuarts Rd.

I remember it well , I lived only a few yards away from it in Yardley Fields Road. Didn’t know the owner. I used to walk down the dirt track to get to the Scout Hut where I went to the 261st Cubs and later the Scouts.
