There have been a number of mentions made in various posts concerning remains removed from cemeteries to other places. On another forum (https://www.secretleeds.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=7017&sid=74e8bb61bf0d284de0055fec6641208d) I have just seen this post by an ex-police officer, concerning this in Leeds, and wonder if, in fact , the same might apply in those cases, and that cremation , not reburial was practiced:
I've only had direct experience of one burial ground being cleared at that was on Upper Wortley Road in around 1974. The work was all behind big screens and part of the contract required that once a grave was opened, work on it had to be completed that day. All human remains were taken to Cottingley Crematorium on the day they were dug up and cremated with a simple religious service
