I posted this once before, but for some reason it seems to have vanished.

Seeing the pictures from India was bitter sweet for me. My dad served in India between WWI and WWII, when I applied for his service records, they had been lost. I got SSAFA onto the case, but even they had no luck, the man from SSAFA (John) said that in all his years, this was the first case of a soldiers records going awol. My dad joined up again in 1939 and served all through the war.
 
:angel: If by any chance your Dad was under age when he first joined up he may not have used his own name, just an idea mind. This also worked in reverse, my Step-Granddad took on my Gran's first married name rather than (His own name, we believe Grandad was dead by then), we fear it was so that he could not be traced for Call-Up.
