PETER. When you think years ago they could have been bought ten a penny,
but then if we knew then what we know now we could have all been rich.
How much was discarded years ago, we used to chop up old furniture to keep warm.

There are loads of places to buy spare parts on the Internet. We have Grate Expectations in Camborne... that sell old fireplaces and parts... There used to be some good places in Cheltenham too. Georgie

Local reclaimation yards usually sell old fireplaces and the parts to restore them. Take a look through your Yellow Pages under 'Reclamation'.
Hope this helps.

Charlie have you seen the one in Hockley. The Pen Museum get some of their chairs and display cabinets from there. If I remember it's off Fredrick Street but I am not sure which street. I will ask Colin at the Pen Room. Its an amazing place full of old jewellers cabinets etched with names rusty tools etc. Wood of all shapes some beautifully carved from old buildings. Plaster shapes and tiger skin rugs.........the latter I didn't like. Well make a date for a visit!

Ooooh Wendy, I'd LOVE to see that! As it happens, I'm looking for some sort of smallish display cabinet to gain more storage, and I don't much care for the new stuff (and it's nearly always self assembly..:Aah:). I'd be pleased to know the address, thanks.
Going a bit off thread here, sorry Rod!
