Raftery

proper brummie kid
My great great great grandmother was Annie or Ann Raftery born in Ireland in 1811 (according to 1861 census) or 1801 (1871 census). I don't know which year she arrived in Birmingham with her children but she is listed on the 1861 & 1871 England census. Her children, all born in Roscommon, were Margaret b 1836, Thomas b 1839, John b 1841, Maria b 1843, Patrick b 1845 & Annie (my gt gt grandmother) b 1849. I don't know who her husband was as she is listed as a widow on the census.

I am not sure what you want to find out. Do you want information on the children or Annie herself?

Dick Raferty used to be the gaffer at the coach and horses , Bordesley Green...

Hi Janice. I was seeking info on Annie herself. I don't know her husbands name or her maiden name or when she came to Birmingham from Ireland. Thanks

Just a thought - the marriage certificate (if you can find it) for your gt gt grandmother should include the Fathers name.
