as a new person on the site I am not sure I am using the site correctly. I am wondering if anyone remembers the school in 1961? I do have a picture of around that time. The school was new when I started. It was magical (I hated school!) with science labs, an art block etc and the fact that it was the pupils that moved from class to class for each lesson. I had previously been to a convent..........this school, at the time, was really up to date. Cookery lessons in either a gas or electric kitchen and even a section where we were taught to use a washing machine.
The head was Mr Farnsworth. He used to wear a cap and gown for assembly. Mr Henny for maths (he ran the youth club in Foley Rd East too) Mrs Roberts, English. Miss Daws Art. Mr chapel Science. Mrs Smedley Domestic Science. Miss Alcott P.E. Mr Eaves, I think he was history/Geography. I will sort the picture out of myself and Linda Knight putting programs out for the open evening. I do remember many of my class and indeed still in touch with one of them. My name was Barbara Gillett
