Pte. 1542 Zachariah Trueman

theodore

master brummie
Any information regarding the army career of Zachariah Trueman (Truman) would be most welcome.

It would appear that his service records were destroyed in the bombing of 1940 and only his Medal Index Card is available on Ancestry. From his MIC it seems that he went to France in October 1914 (could be that he was a reservist recalled to the colours) but sadly was killed in action on 3rd November 1914.

The son of Eliza Truman, 1Court, 8 House, High Street, Deritend, Birmingham (CWGC).

1891 census, father Henry mother Eliza, Leah, Rueben and Zachariah aged 7 months.

Born Birmingham Dec. Q. 1890. He enlisted in Birmingham.

Private 1542 Zachariah Trueman, 2nd Battalion, Royal Warwickshire Regiment.

From De Ruvigny's Roll of Honour (Vol. 3 p.271).
Trueman, Z. Private, No. 1542, 2nd Battn. The Royal Warwickshire Regt. Served with the Expeditionary Force in France. Died of wounds 3 Nov. 1914.
(Note it states died of wounds but Soldiers Died in the Great War states Killed in action).

This is a long shot for information (army career) but you never know.

Regards

Peter
