Ok, I think I need to start again with this. First can I ask is there a reason why someone could be on the census in more than one place?
I have two problems with this family. Missing father George A Pryce and posts that suggest the rest of the family were in two places at once in 1911.
Clara E Price married George A PrYce in 1893. All look ups agree on that.
They have two children in 1896 Arthur Cedric Howes Pryce and Doreen Muriel Pyce B 1900. All agreed on that.
George A then appears on my granny, Ethel Darr (nee Price), his sister-in-laws marriage certificate that I have in 1903 as a witness.
Then he disappears off both the census and electoral roll apart from one look up that says there is a George A that was a pastry chef living as a border and the wrong age. This seems an unlikely profession as they has quite a big house towards the end.
SMTR gives the rest of the family as staying with Clara E Pryce's sister Jessie Thomas (nee Price) in Sheffield in 1901 census. No George.
In 1911 there seems to be a muddle as one postee says they were there in Sheffield again and another that they were in Birmingham in no 8 Springfield Rd but this time Doreen Muriel is missing AND her father and there appears to be a lot of other unrelated persons there at the same address. Servants or are they flats?
They were supposed to have had a third daughter, Clarissa Pryce who died at around 17. There is a birth date for a Clarrissa Pryce in 1911 but no date of death. Someone found a 15 year old of this name dying in Wales but place of birth was wrong..ie not Birmingham.
Can anyone help solve this riddle, especally what happened to George? Could he have been in the forces away? Is there anyway of checking this as another postee found some medals belonging to a George A Pryce. If he was killed in the WW1 where would the death be recorded?
I am posting a picture of their last house just in case anyone recognises where it was.
Icarus has advised me to order his marriage certificate and it is on its way. Although this may give his profession it will not explain where he went. HELP
