Procter partners insurance

In the winter of 63 I started at Procter partners insurance. My mom said I had to leave school and get a job, interviewed on the Thursday left school on the Friday started work on the Monday! At that time they were in Gt Hampton Row before moving to purpose built premises on the Soho Road. The winter was in full swing I went to catch a bus at villa cross, nothing came, walked up to the Soho road, nothing, I had some new shoes (not winter ones!) and I could only afford a mac, I ended up walking all the way from hampstead Rd to the end of Gt Hampton Row, wet through, freezing cold and thoroughly miserable and not even a thank you or a cup of tea when I got there! What a start to working life!!

Cheers ta, it took all day to dry out they only had a small coal fire (which I had to make up!!) then I had to stand in a bus queue, they had started running again and then stand on the rear platform because the bus was full and standing! Charles Dickens would have had a field day working there!!
