Hi I don't know if anyone can help me. I'm looking for an Edwin David Price. He came from birmingham originally, married a Clara Clark in we think 1862 and went to Glasgow ( address in 1908 as 1 Bain Street Glasgow) to work as a master chair maker. We think he lost the job and then came back to Wolverhampton to run a pub. He had 11 children, one of which was Archibald Price (my grandfather) who then went on to live in Muntz Street with the Nutting family.

If anyone can find anything out that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Can't find any connection to 1862.
Edwin David Price born 1873 Birmingham married in 1892
address in 1901
21 Abingdon street,Sunderland, Co Durham

Edwin Price age 28 Cabinet maker b. Birmingham
Clara age 30 Birmingham
Earnest 8 b. Birmingham
Gerald 3b. Birmingham
Albert Rudder age 26 Cabinet maker ,boarder b. Birmingham
Sarah Rudder wife 26 b. Birmingham
Earnest 5
Ethel 3

thanks - will have to check the date we've got but 1862 and 1892 could be mixed up quite easily. hat does the second part mean? Were earnest and geraled children and what is the relevance of albert rudder and sarah rudder? Is there anywhere I can look this up? Thanks ever so much.

This is definately them as 1892 makes much more sense than 1862. REalised that the Rudders were boarders with the Prices. Can I find a birth certificate for Edwin and info relating to their address in Glasgow ie more children etc. Thanks ever so much for your help.

HI I've had a quick delve myself - and think his parents may be john and jane price - is there anyway you can check this for me? I've put in their address in Glagow but can't find any info on them there? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Edwin David Price birth registered Birmingham Dec 1872 ref 6d 118

You can get this from Birmingham register office cost £9.50.

Thanks Alberta. When looking through I see 2 Edwin Prices both registered in Dudley or Dudley wood for 1872 and the one goes through to the 1901 census for finding them in Sunderland in the 1901 census. Is this the right Edwin Price do you think If he was registered in Birmingham would that cover Dudley? Thanks and sorry for being a pain its just I'm looking to find the info quite quickly as I@m getting it together for my dad for xmas. Thanks again

sorry now i'm getting really confused! I've found another Edwin Price for that year in Birmingham registered in the St George's parish which I thought I'd seen as being where he was born? Only registered there as Edwin and not Edwin David = gosh this is confusing!!!!!

Natty, genealogy is confusing because so very often our ancestors left confusing records.
There is a family tree on Ancestry for Edwin David Price, I had looked for his marriage and found nothing.
However he used the name Edward when he married or the transcriber put the wrong name.
He married Clara Clark in 1892.
His parents are given as Thomas John Price and Harriet Smith they married 1871 Dudley
Harriet is on the 1881 census in Tower street she has a daughter Clara who must have been before her marriage to thomas.
and the rest of the children are theirs.
Edwin is transcribed as Edwin J but if you view the original it is not.
Harriet says married but no husband listed
In 1891 in Unett Street she is a widow.

Thank you ever so much. I had seen the Edwin J but assumed it as the right one as all other info was correct. Having spoken to my dad on his fathers birth certificate he is listed as Edward David Price but on my dad's father's marriage certificate he was listed (deceased) but as Edwin David Price. So this explains this. Thank youever so much - its really kind of you. I shall dig a little deeper now i have this info - one last thing if i want to learn for records in scotland how do i do this? Thanks again

Hi again I've managed to get access to the family tree that mentions the relatives I'm looking at. It says that Edwin married Clara but that Clara died in 1902 (this seems strange as my grandfather Archibald Price was born in 1908 in Glasgow and states Clara as his mother?)Also Edwin's father Thomas John Price - born in 1850 but no death (although I did find one in Wednesbury in 1935 which might tally as this is where his family originally came from) - are you able to shed any light? Thanks

As with many family trees that are put online there are some facts that can be verified and some that are pure speculation on the part of the submitter.
There is a death in Birmingham of a Clara Price 1902 but she is 40 years old and your Clara was 30 in 1901.

Thanks for clarifying - now I just need to find the right one!

On the other side of the family, the Nuttings we're finding some interesting stuff. David Nutting born 1866 was of a largish family but our understanding is his family were sent to the Blue Coat School in Harborne (we think they were abandoned or something). Therefore David and his son Percy Clarence never mentioned brothers and sisters although we knew they had some. We were told before owning a shop in 160 Muntz Street David was a shoemaker. However having corresponded with a distant relative here we know there was a Philip Nutting and a Francis Nutting who were brothers to David . I found what I think relates to census for David Nutting, certainly the 1901 does and related searches shows a David Nutting in a workhouse in Sleaford (it does state he was originally from Birmingham) with what looks like his mother, Selina and a few siblings. 10 years later (1891) he is back in Birmingham living with a brother Philip Nutting and his family and sister Elizabether and Philip was a shoemaker, David is listed as a factory worker I think. Is there anywhere I can look for Blue Coat School records? trace DAvid's parents, if they were Selina and I think it might have been David Nutting then it does seem that the family were split for some reason. I really appreciate your help. Thanks v much again

You could apply for the birth cert of David, which would give his parentage.
