I'm beginning to think my family are very long lived as I can't find evidence of the death of my GF or GGF!

Oldest first:-

Frederick Lawrence PRICE b 1858 Sheffield. 1901 Census living at 175 Aston Lane, Handsworth; 1914 is on wedding cert of his daughter Hellen PRICE & Joseph SMART they living at 47 Billhay St. West Brom (not marked dec'd so assume he is still with us); my late father b1928 didn't remember him so say dead by 1933 definitely; my Great Aunt b1921 thinks(!) she went to the funeral so say could be 1926ish; my GFs Army paybook at - I think 1925 - gives next of kin as mother Julia PRICE (nee WARD) living at 51 Billhay Street, West Brom, so FLP gone by then?

Some years ago I had a search done by GRO OPCS based on the 51 Billhay Street address for years 1920-1924 - nothing. I have searched Ancestry death indexes- not very helpful really and without ordering every Fred Price certificate I can find there, I just can't get a lead.

I am assuming he died in Brum, but I guess he might have gone to Blackpool and toppled into the sea! Other than that, anyone got any thoughts on where I might go next?

Hi Tim

For B,ham there are some online at this site, it's free to register and you can buy a subscription or Pay Per View, it is a young site and improving, i know a lot of our members use it --

Completed so far are 1912, 1918 (Absent voters), 1920,1925,1930,1935 & 1939. These can all be searched by name, by address or both. You can even look for two people living at the same address - useful if you are researching a common surname.

Hi Tim

Have you looked at this one before --

Frederick L Price 74yrs 1st qtr 1930 W.Bromwich 6b 918

I know the age is out a bit but that's nothing unusual

bren

What names and dates for the other one, can't make it out from your post

bren

Was going to do a separate post so not to confuse but:-

William Henry PRICE b 1887 India; alive in 1932 probably living at Gower Street, Walsall. Dead by 1936ish.

Hi Tim

William Henry, how do you know he was still alive in 1932

bren

I have a receipt for payment of subs for the Legion of Frontiersmen for 1932.... no actually for November 1931, now that I check again. My dad, born in 1928, reckoned his father died when he was about 8 so 1936 ish.

I reckon this is the one --

William H Price 49yrs 3rd qtr 1935 Walsall 6b 572

Hey... thanks again Bren- can't find either of those on Ancestry - you have secret powers! Looks very promising and I will pursue.

Also thanks for the tip on the Electoral rolls site. Have signed up and think I may have found my G/Uncle on the Absent voters, so may be able to get to service records now.
