How times change in our National game Just over 100 years ago Villa made £2562 and the Blues £2087 Newcastle were most successful with £4399 and
Manchester United were not even listed in deficit. Chelsea had the highest figure on the wrong side of the balance sheet at £5000 It may be noted that an average player of merit earned £4 a week Link up soon WAK

Wak - I remember waiting outside the Villa for the players to come out and speaking at great length with them about the game. You can't get past their 'minders' now-a-days? What a pity............. the advise given to me by the likes of Charlie Aiken was invaluable - get a good job son.

my daughter can get near to them. shes waits on the private boxes at birmingham city on match days. last season one of the players(cant remember which on) put his drinks bottle on her trolly and said hi to her. she kept the bottle and bought it home. just before her 14th birthday i sent a birthday card to them and asked if any of the players would be so kind as to sign it for her. not realy expecting anything i just waited. 2 weeks later back came the card signed by the whole team. she was over the moon and sent a letter of thanks back to them. back came a lovely letter accompanied by a signed photo of stevie bruce and robbie savage. (her favourite player at that time) needless to say they all went in frames and are still on her bedroom wall. did the same for my son with man u. i did get the card back but the signatures were rubber stamped. not quite the same. wales.
