market traders
Does anyone remember the Poole family they were market traders on the barrows Albert Poole had a barrow outside the st martins pub in the 50's/60's prhaps even earlier. His eldest son Albert also had a barrow which specialised in salads. I remember th underground tunnels, where they used to keep the fish because it was so cold, I was about 8 when we used to explore these tunnels, with my dog. We used to come into the old market, and used to help pull the barrows up the very steep hill, then we used to watch the men in chains, try to escape, and the man who used to swallow swords. Happy days or were they?
