To keep the General Discussion section useful and informative, as well as a place to discuss non-historical subjects, you will notice that some threads may, over time, be:
closed, or
historical information could be moved to other relevant historical sections, or
deleted if they’ve run their course.

For regularly occurring topics
It may be that some members will want to continue with discussions on topics such as ‘In the Garden’ or current developments in and around Birmingham. For regularly occurring topics such as these, members are welcome to ask a moderator to start a new thread making it clear that it is a current subject. To make this obvious to our readers, the thread title will include the current year.

Thank you all for your continuing support and contributions to our Forum. Viv.

We're bringing this thread back up for the attention of all our members as a reminder of the scope of the General Discussion section and BHF moderators' role in keeping these general threads relevant, helpful and of interest. Please note:

Scope of the General Discussion section
We'd like to remind members that BHF is first and foremost concerned with Birmingham history. By exception, in our General Discussion section, we allow members to raise and discuss general, non-historical matters. But we also ask members to be mindful of whether their post will be of general lnterest to other members and/or can offer interesting, useful Birmingham-related information.

Moderator discretion
Posts or threads will be deleted without notice/explanation when, at the sole discretion of moderators, they are judged to have run their course or to be contentious, unhelpful, inconsequential or otherwise inappropriate.

Thank you for taking the time to read this message.
