Hi All. Does anyone know where I can buy a traditional dry mount photo album?
The type with the plain paper/card pages where photos are fixed with 'corners' instead of being glued in.

There are a few on ebay but they all seem to have photos in and I think it would be a shame to take them all out.
I have a lot of photos of my family from the 1900's to the 1950's which I am in the process of sorting out and I'd like to store them in an album instead of an envelope at the back of the big drawer.

You can get albums from Jessops, W. H. Smith.
Most albums today have self adhesive pages with a clear cellophane cover to each page, you can take the photos out or move them around with no damage to the photos, expect to pay around 10-£15 for A4 size with 50 double pages.

John ,I have found that when stored for a long time the cellophane sticks to the photo. Not so bad if the photo is matt or textured fish. But I think this is perhaps why Little_Al is looking for old style albums and corner mounts. I remember being told off by an old style stamp collector for using gummed mounts directly on the stamp. So like photos will the self adhesive gum change over time , set hard and make the photo immovable ?

Arkrite, I have used 2 of these albums for over 15 years without bother, I understand what you mean though.
Probably the best way to go is the system used by all the museums etc. but could be pricey, here's the link, they have several choices.
They have photo corners at £2.95 for 250, and a 40 page album for £9.95.

Hi Al, I still use my 35mm camera,I take the films into Jessops, have one set of prints and a CDROM for
my computer.I uaually have the 7x5 prints and Jessops sell very good albums for that size. I wish I had
kept my old photos, years ago I used to take slides and bore people to death with my projector. Bernard

I often see these albums at car boots some not in good condition but could be recovered. Dek

Thank you to everyone for your helpful suggestions.

If I can't find what I want in the shops I shall be using one of those companies that Arkrite or John Knight recommended.
