Pegg William

annieapple

knowlegable brummie
Hi Here are some pictures of william Pegg b 1912. The wedding photo is dated 1936.
My grandparents were unable to live together until the fire brigade allocated them a flat. My mother was born at linguard street fire station in 1938 and then later moved into a flat at the Central fire station. My family had many fond memories of their time spent here despite living through the blitz.

Re: William Pegg

Annie, my nan in law was born in 1914 and she also had some great stories about the war and living through it, though she can't recall much about WW! as she was so young. In WW2 she moved from her Birmingham roots to Whitwick, just outside Coalville as Grandad was doing secret war work close to there, she says she felt sorry for her rels as she had fresh food and very little bombing. She used to travel to Brum on the buses to take food parcels to her family, this with her son, so no mean feat. She also worked with the WVS and has a medal from them, I don't know what for as she didn't talk about it, only found it after she died.
My mom was bombed out in the war, they lived in Vincent St, but she can remember it though she was only 2 as she lost all her toys and had a new doll and pushchair after it - there is a pic of her by the Anderson shelter before they were bombed out on this site.

Re: William Pegg

HI Steve
I think we may have spoken before through Ancesrty . com.
I have since made alot of progress on the Pegg family and made contact with a decendant of William Peggs sister. Yes my William Pegg does share the same birth year 1876, There are two of them showing up on the 1901 census according to my contacts. I think my William was living in Cradley Heath and did not marry until 1906 and another William with a wife and two children were living in Aston .Is this your family. I wonder if they connect. William Peggs father was Isaac his mother Ellizabeth Chambers and Isaacs mother was Nancy
Hope this is of some help
Annie
