hi to any one who knew the peace family of new john street west hockley:rolleyes:

Black Lead

I recall standing at the top of our entry just watching the world go by, and suddenly seeing a dark skined man coming up the street,.Well i took to my heels running back up the entry shouting back-yed back-yed i couldnt say black-led at the time but i know he scared the living day-lights out of me.I went and hid in the brew house till he had gone.He used to call every so often to see if any-one wanted their black grates black leading. Also rember the rag and bone man on his horse and cart shouting what sounded like ear- rag -bone ,but it was probably any -rag -bone, asking my mom if we had any rags so i could a gold-fish off him, that only lasted two or three days if i was lucky.
