From the trades & professional section of the 1950 Kelly's Directory under Pawnbrokers. She must have had a trade name!

Zealley Annie (Mrs. A. Craddock), 243
King Edward's rd 18

what a wonderful site this has turned out to be . hi astonian , i have now found a photo of mrs croddock and bessie, which i will get my husband to down load for me ( rubbish at that) so you can see i , dont know who the other lady is you might know? and i dont know were it was taken, but yes a small world. my mother was never married and died in the may 1953 i was just nine i do re=member going to the shop with her , i belive there was a bell on the door and rows and rows of cloth hanging with tickets on them, i use to be in the back of the shop and talk to bessie,mrs craddock and bessie moved to leahurst cres harborne to a prefab and i still visited them for many years . ive been researching the neale family tree for 4 years , but what made me start it was to try and find out who my father was , did get some great help but never did find out . but never mind i had a great child hood and have a fantastic family of my own once again astonian many , many thanks di

good evening di
nice to hear from you again on site oh yes you discribed the shop to a T,you could not move in there it was certainly hanging around alright it was like an alladdins cave full of trinketts of all discription in fact i would have said you name it she had it in the shop di; i remember a family of neales whom ran a dry cleaning business down on the corner of st marks st.in them days there used to be a little island in the middle of the big st marks st because st marks st was in two parts
and the road that ran seperated it was king edwards rd from the little st marks st
and the neales dry cleaners and laundry was on the corner of the big st marks st
there neibours was the chatwins .the jones the hopkins and the birds some lived in camden st but any way the neales was only down spring hill coming from the shop
i am not saying these could be related but one never knows these are forties and fifties and sixtes so a neales family could be worth checking eletrol rolls
try and down the pic the best you can do di; speak to you again best wishes astonian ;;
