Hi dave
mny , many thanks for that valued information, valued to me personaly , I of course
meaning myself , and now i will be able to contact them personaly
to further my intrest regarding mr hughes .
I can only presume they have bought the trade name from the oringinale owners
namely mr patterson ; and mr hughes ; and kept the bussiness name
unless there is some family connection ; brillient work dave

HI BAMMOT;
Thats terrific information you have given me ,and for him to be Associated with
the jelfs and the masonic halls brigade and knowing what i have learnt about my
family back ground and the years match up
So it is mr george hughes , [senior] i need to be tracing up,
he was a great big friend of the jelfs from the social scene and from bussiness side
my mother told me of those days when they had a flush resturant in the city in the burlinton arcade
the one where the kardoma coffe shop was and it had waitress,s in uniform
and a couple more around that area she said they was in competiton with old joe lyons
he had waitress dressed the same with clinnin aprons and head gear on
this would have been mr willian george jelf senior ] arther the son had one coffee shop next to snow
station , and this george hughes senior asked my mother to marry him
but they all socialized together, before my mother died she asked us to try and track him down
but sadly we was unable to do fornot knowing where he was we was told it was bordesley way
or around that area
well at least i have managed to track is first name
i am hoping to track the orin the the other person namely .
mary ann hughes, there must be some-one of a jelf connection whom knows where she his from
i have been trying for a one hell of a time to find out where she is from
and according to our members of research she has been listed with few members of the jelf brothers
i have got georges will and he left it to mary ann hughes the wife and his sons
and i have got her will but it doe,s not tell me where she is from either
i wonder whether she could have been a sibbling to george hughes
many thanks bammot best wishes Astonian ;;;;

Pattison-Hughes Catering Company was formed 2nd January 1920 - I have the original Ledgers - my grandfather Edward Bazley, was one of the first general managers - followed by my father and my uncle, I also worked for the family business in the sixties.
It was formed by the following - Roland Felton, Howard Alfred Hughes, James William Pattison and Clement Leslie Hughes.

Pattison had various restaurants in Bham, including New and Corporation Streets and Hughes owned a biscuit making company

good morning bazlypeter
i do not know whether or not you have seen my request numerous times on this forum
regarding myself requesting inf ;on the patterson hughes company but i have indeed ;
my reason being that they was highly good friends and bussiness people in bussiness with my grand motherand
grand parents the jelfs catering organisation of birmingham whom owned the coffee shops and resturants around birmingham, and yes my mother told me of her affair with mr hughes and he asked her to marry him ;
at new cannal street where she lived and brought up with her parents
ernest jelf and bertha victoria hinton , may years ago when my father died we tryed to track down mr hughes
as she wanted to make contact with him but to know prevail we did not know or find him ;
but sadly my mother died some years ago ;but i always had the intrest of the patterson and hughes resturants ;
as around that time in the twentys and onwards they had the jelfs [there grand father and them selves
had resturants along side the patterson hughes along with the great joe lyons resturants in the city
there resturants was on the same lines as thee resturants staff wearing that special uniform with head and waist aprons
up around the city andnew street and snow hill and it was in the wetern arcade or the burlntonarcade they held there resturants and i beleive hey didbuy one of the hughes restutants that would havebeen george
or the other one of william ; any way baz
i hope you do not mind me asking you if i sent you my personal em would or could you please
send me a copy of that details you have of the ledgers or could i even meet up with you some where
as i see you do not live to far away from me ; i am living very close to you in worcestershire
it would be a very good iceing on the cake for me ; to see and get a copy of it so i could share or show the rest of my brothers whom i know woyuld be thrilled to see that and knowing what we knew about mom andmr hughes
and the affair and hearing of his proposal to her just to get the photo copy with his name and bussiness
i know its a silly question would you know whether or not he him self or as he any other member ofhis family still alive today
if you cannot make contact or et me have a photo copy in any way ;
i would like to say thank you for putting your thread on the forum ;for us all i awit your reply in
antisapation ; have a nice day best wishes ASTONIAN ;; [ ALAN ]
