I am searching for the birth record / parents of Martha Jones, who lived in Ladywood between 1874 & 1891 and had children with Reuben Partridge - I don't believe they ever married. Martha was born c 1852 and died in the workhouse infirmary (1 Western Rd) in 1933. Children were Clara, Amelia, Arthur Reuben, Leah and Reuben. All responses welcome!

Thanks, Pomgolian. I have found Martha in Ladywood in the 1881 census, and in Dudley in the 1901 census, but that's all. Nothing in 1911 or in 1871. She worked in the steel pen works in Ladywood. Reuben died in Dudley in 1909. I'll keep looking......:)

Hi Gulliver, thought I'd try the line of 'The Neice':

Emily J. LYSALL Niece U Female 19 Bham, Warwick, England French Polisher on the 1881 census.

However it appears she could in fact be ...
Births Mar 1862 TYSALL Emily Jane Birmingham 6d63

Looked for a Tysall marriage and only came up with one that fitteed which seems also to have been mistranscribed ..
John Tysall/Sysall and Jane Kempson/Heapson.

So I looked in 1841 Cens'and found these guys living with the Abell family in Heneage St North side , with what looks to be John's grandparents and what could be a sister around the corner in Windsor St

Address:Heneage St North side
TYSALL James M 30 Paper Hanger Warwickshire TYSALL John M 9 Warwickshire TYSALL Charles M 4 Warwickshire

And Address: Upper Windsor St

Surname First name(s) Sex Age Occupation Where Born Remarks TYSALL John M 59 Steel Toy Maker Warwickshire TYSALL Eliza F 58 Warwickshire TYSALL Ann F 14 Warwickshire.

However I could not find any link to the Jones/Partridge / or Tysall family sorry...
Not sure if this info' is of any use but you never know...

Pomgolian, you've done well!
Emily Jane Tysall was the daughter of Jane Kempson & John Tysall, Reuben Partridge's step-brother, so that is the link.
Tysall is a pretty unusual name and one of the Tysall descendants has contacted me with information about the family going back to 1621 in Coleshill.
Unfortunately the name Jones is as common as you can get, so it's difficult to find Martha's birth or parents, given there was no marriage certificate for her and Reuben. All I have to go on is the census returns for 1881, 1891 and 1901 which say she was born in B'ham anywhere between 1852 and 1861.
