Maybe if public transport cut their high ticket prices, then maybe car owners would switch back to public transport, my wife, daughter and my two grandchildren catch the local bus in Cannock which is only a couple of miles away, they don't get much change out of £10.00, if I take them in my car, no more than £1.00 in fuel.....This idea of charging workers to pay car parking fee's is not new, been around along time, and it has also been suggested that you paid to park your car at these out of town shopping centres etc, the excuse that it will raise funds for public transport, public transport is now in private hands, if these companies want to update their fleet of buses etc, then instead of paying their shareholders a massive amount in dividends it should be ploughed back into the company, also the government gives these bus companies 95pence for every journey a oap does.....National Express made around £55 million pounds profit last year on buses alone....by the way...I work for a public transport company, I am also a shareholder, I have a free bus and train pass...I still have to use my car because the time I finish work , all the buses are off the road, plus the 20 minutes it take me to travel to work would turn into a 90 minutes if I had to use the bus.....paying to park at work, no its not a very good idea at all.......why not charge people to park outside their house's instead if they park on the road ....
