‘Pardoes Yard’, Church Walk opposite St Margaret’s Church, Ward End. There was double fronted house that had a sandpit at the rear. When filled in the land was rented out to Gypsy family’s in their caravans.

There was a man called Joe Dantey who live in hut in the yard, he was a bit of a local charter. The Pardoe’s also had a son who was boxed in the 1932 Olympic games and won a bronze medal.
