From the electoral roll
In 1920 here is no mention in Birmingham
!n 1925 there are two Frederick Paintains, probably neither the correct one;
Frederick with Thomas and charlotte Paintain at The Globe 71 Great Barr St
Frederick Robert Paintain with Alfred & Albert Henry Packwood at 125 Gt Brook St.
In 1930 frederick Rodway Paintain and Ellen Agnes Paintain are at 137 Sandy Lane
And in 1935 they are at 60 Aston road north
In 1938 both are at 23 Eatesbrook road and remain till at least 1950. the online rolls go no later. No other occupants are on the rolls, but ,if they had children who left home before 21, then they would not be listed

Paintains Tool & Spares were on Warwick Rd. Tyseley near Weston Lane, it was family run business by Father and Son Paintain and maybe others. Len.
