This one is really awkward at present as I don't have enough information on my grandfather to work with.

His name was Roland Joseph Page, and I believe he was born September 24th 1907, but the records office didn't find his birth certificate with that date.

I have his Parents down as James William Page b. about 1878 & Frances Lillian...
But that's about it!

I'm still trying to scour through the census details with what I have, but not having much joy. The only are a information I can give is Birmingham, I don't know exactly where they were from.

Best to go "backwards" to proceed "forwards", Do you have their 1901 census ?

if not this is a probable/possible for you to ponder, RG13 Piece 2858 Folio 18 page 27
James Page (Head) age 23 an Outfitters Porter, wife Lillie age 22, son Leslie J age 6 weeks
Living at 1 bk 33 New Bond (Watery Lane) Aston,

Also there is a Rowland Page born 4th Quarter 1909 but not showing on records(Ancestry)
Also there is a marriage , James Page to Lily Kate Maddocks,3rd Quarter 1900 Aston(B,ham) 6d page 447

Hi John,
Yes, the first one with the marriage to Lillie is correct!
I have now managed to trace that one back to 1891 too, but the trail goes cold again as all the names on that census don't appear on any of the other ones!
It's as if they just materialised for a couple of years and dissapaered again! Weird.

I have only just come across this post.

Rather than going backwards in time you need to start with what you do know as fact.
It is advised to purchase a marriage certificate before a birth certificate and then work backwards.
Do you have Roland / Rowland PAGE marriage certificate to establish his father?
Are you certain that James William PAGE & Frances Lillian are his parents?

I believe you have an incorrect year for his birth.

Died 1972 his death Register in Sutton Coldfield.
This entry gives date of birth as 24 Sept 1909 , rather than 1907.

There is a birth for
Rowland PAGE
Birth registered in Birmingham
Oct, Nov, Dec Quarter 1909
Ref: 6d-139

I have researched the PAGE Family
I have a Rowland /Roland Page born in 1909
However his mother is not Frances Lillian.
