GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN R.I.P.
Our site
Some time ago I had a dream
Then Rod Birch joined the team
Together we pooled our idea
Aston manor site became clear
What would you be doing now
If this site was not here for thou
I myself would have been in bed
And Rod would be better read
Think of the time before Aston Manor
Were you just a web page scanner

what were you doing before the advent of astonbrook through astonmanor ? yes you

Well said John - I honestly don't know what I did before this forum :)

I used to play a particular online game most of the time.

But I wont go into that ^-^

The rest of my online time was spent helping out with moderation of the VB forums......... There was a time, I wished with all my heart that the community on our site/forum was like the one we had on VB. How foolish can a person be? that friendly community is here, now.. and it has been for a long long time. I miss a few of the people from VB but I am surrounded by lots of very fine people, I reckon I'm in the very best of company here.. I really must start writing again though, I have a half finished book lying in a dusty room, albeit a virtual room on my hard drive, I really must get it completed.

I'm not sure what I did prior to the site John, that I dont do now

I do probably spend slighty more time on the web than I ever used to, however, I get up earlier each day and I spend my web time very differently

I've always used the web to DL a lot of teaching stuff for my students,  I previously critiqued a lot of research articles to ensure they were OK afore printing them off. Now I use keys and codes that get me into sites where I can obtain articles that have already been critiqued this gives me more time to do other stuff :-[ This is by far where most of my web time is spent.

I also chat a lot on the net with friends.............but being a woman I can multi task this anyhow :P

I still enjoy reading a book, maybe I dont read for pleasure as often as I used to in the same sense.........but I do find reading all the articles on the site A PLEASURE.  I dont think I would have ever attempted to write a short story or the modest amount of poetry I have without the support of the site members, I probably would never have known what a HAIKUS was, let alone written many. I most certainly wouldnt have been approached by the LEA for permission to have articles referenced in their history curriculum

I think the other way the site has changed my life is that its opened up a completely different range of conversation that I have with people.....strangers, patients,  relatives even my own family........

The ironing basket never seems to empty as often as it used to, but I reckon thats cus people wear three sets of clothes a day....nowt to do with me being on the net ^-^

Because the Virtual Brum forum didn't have half the distractions we have here, I used to write a lot more than I do now. I can never see me re-writing the two, much rejected, novels I have collecting dust as long as Aston brook Through Aston Manor is on the Net - long may it thrive. O0

Footnote: Being a man I don't have to multi-task. :2funny:

I too have a book awaiting in Word, not even half written, but that's my fault nothing to do with the forum. And being a woman I can multitask. ;)

The forum is my relaxation time, often late when most people are in bed. I don't go to ebay as often as I used, or search the IGI much, but I know I won't find anything new.

I take a lot more photo's with the forum in mind.

John, I'd be lost without you all :)
