i agree MWS wonder if its still standingThat's a grand looking school.
Hi MWS, thanks for that, I did notice, as you say, Alfred Terrace could be Alfred Place and that the house you describe is the back of number 13 in the photo of #7. Lyn's second photo on the #1 posting shows what could be number 15 to the left and number 17 to the right Alfred Terrace, in this photo. I was hoping there might be a wider version of this photo showing number 13. What is confusing, however, on the electoral register I attached it mentions a number 16 Alfred Place. When you check the old maps there is no number 16. What do you think????Assuming Alfred Place and Alfred Terrace are the same (which I think it is) you can see the back of no 13 on the aerial photo (post #7).
On the right of the picture there is a building with a white roof with another building to the right at an angle, both below a much larger building (Tower Ballroom).
Adjacent to the left of the white roofed building is Alfred Terrace. The flat wall before the shorter terrace begins is no's 11, 12 & 13. The small wall on the right of the shorter terrace joins directly to the back of no 13.
Admittedly probably not the picture of no 13 you were looking for.

You've probably noticed I've edited the map twice ... I can see two number 13s ... I'll leave it to others to decide which number 13 is the correct one ...It looks like the one with the wall behind it maybe ...Old Mohawk, would 13 Alfred Terrace be the one facing the lower numbers not at the back of?
hi phil as said i think alfred terrace and place are one and the sameHi Lyn, just received your post as I was sending my reply to MWS, what say you????
Phil
Hi MWS, You're correct, I've looked at older maps and found these houses were first known by a court number before they were know by the terrace name. So I've edited my previous posts to reflect this. Must have been a nightmare for the postman.I think Lavinia Terrace is just the short row of houses and Alfred Terrace are the two rows opposite each other (one green, one red).
If Lavinia Terrace were the two green rows then no's 11 to 14 would occur twice.
So, on your photo I think you've marked 13 Reservoir Terrace.
Thank you! That's a great map too. I appreciate it.I'd speculate that it was Rotton Park Terrace on the left and Helena Terrace on the right. Rotton Park Terrace seems to be the only one with at least 6 houses in row with no break, front houses that are slightly bigger and a building opposite the path. Map from 1950...
