Ordering a birth certificate

ellie

master brummie
The earliest known of my ancestors was born in 1792. This is Richard Cooper born in 1792 to a Richard and Mary Cooper.

I know that the younger Richard was christened on 31/5/1792 at St Mary, Warwick, Warwick.

Is it possible to order certificates this far back with so little info to go on.

If I wanted to try and access info from parish registers such as banns etc how would I go about that?

Hello Ellie,

Do You have The Morman Church of the Latter Day Saints Centre near you ?
If so , Visit webpage -Familysearch.

Once you have found your Ancestors Christening / Marriage
Make a note of the Source Information- Batch Number and Print out Call Number.

If you are unable to visit The Records Centre or Library Archives that holds the Parish Records for that area / Country , you can order and hire the film from Church of The Latter Day Saints ( Family Search ) in Salt Lake City and View on a reader at your nearest C.L.D.S Centre for a small fee.

You can then photocopy the record of Christening / Marriage

Good Luck
Bo

I have the IGI record for Richard Cooper and it has the batch nos and printout numbers on the page.
I have never looked up these numbers. I thought they would be only give you the info that had alreay been provided.

It is info about Richard's parents( Richard Cooper and Mary) that I am after. Would it be in these batch sources?

Parish Records.
The reference numbers are to order the film.
You can then view each Christening or marriage .
These are the Originals Certificates on microfiche.
Each record has a different number.
Richard Cooper Christening record may include where parents are living and occupation of Father.
The earlier in time then less is recorded on Certificate.
It may include Godparents.

The same applies to his Parents marriage, Address & Occ: may be included along with Witness's that is if you have the date and the batch Number, to order that film also.

Viewing the IGi is what has been transcribed by The Church of the Latter Day Saints or Submitted by a another person. Errrors do occur .
It is best to view the Original Record.

I have a problem with the IGI, in that one member of the family is noted a dead, although he was still alive....so there is a possibility of mix-up also..
Having said this, I am not in a position to order original docs...
