The Old Crown Inn with its unusual clock tower on the corner of King Edwards Place and Broad Street. It was named Broad St. in the 1850's before that called Islington Lane and before that Halesowen Lane
to the left of the postcard is the Unitarian Church of the Messiah built in 1865 and demolished 1978. The Old Crown Inn built in 1781 was were Henry Mitchell started brewing and selling his "Home Brew" from... before moving to Michells & Butlers Cape Hill Smethwick

Hi Cromwell

Was the 'Hungry Man' on the same site as the 'Old Crown'? It did good trade with Bingley Hall customers, as I recall.
