Oklahoma At The Proms

jukebox

Engineer Brummie
Last night the Proms (BBC4) showed a full stage production of Oklahoma! from the Albert Hall following the original Broadway score. Fan-tas-tic! Available on iPlayer for 29 days, it's well worth watching if you like Musicals. Just under 3 hours of brilliant entertainment.

(Edited to include exclamation mark!!!)

I watched 'Oklahoma!' too - voices and acting very good, and I enjoyed, but I found it rather 'flat', possibly because there was no scenery and the stage-action and the orchestra were transposed. They've done this before at The Proms, with 'Yeomen Of The Guard', which I felt wasn't a success. Sorry to be a bit negative, but 'Oklahoma!' (mustn't forget the exclamation mark!) is one of my favourite shows, having trod the boards myself for a number of years, and I was faintly disappointed. The original Broadway version is a fair bit lengthier than the more-usually seen amateur production.
