Online-- Birmingham Newspaper Death Notices 1874 - 1907
If any of you are looking for the death of an ancestor in Birmingham around 1874 to 1907 it may be worth checking out the Warwickshire newspaper Death notices on the Hunimex site.

The Newspapers covered are Birmingham Daily Mail, Birmingham Daily Gazette, Solihull Advertiser, Knowle Journal, Coleshill Chronicle, Kenilworth Advertiser.

It is a very long database list so you will have to scroll down until you come to the two Birmingham sections or just put Birmingham in the 'find on this page' search.

The death notice entry does not just give a date of death it can also give family information, an address, occupation or details of the death if it was an accident or serious illness.

Hello Claire. I have found several obituaries for family buried at Key Hill and Witton Cemeteries they were from newspaper achives at Birmingham Library. Mine were found in the Birmingham Mail and Birmingham Post.

The site Louisa mentions is very good and well worth going through you may be lucky.

It is always difficult to find a burial place but worth a try. If you have no luck at Witton Cemetery try Handsworth Cemetery as they hold the records for Key Hill and Warstone Lane cemeteries.
Perhaps if you post a surname interest you may get lucky.

Tom your not imposing I am glad to help if I can, it's no problem.:)

Clare I am so pleased you have had luck with finding the grave. A big cheer for Witton Cemetery staff I say. It's upsetting when the weather spoils your plans, never mind perhaps you can make it when the weather is better.
