Hi Cromwell , Where Was Your House At THat Time, THAT Picture Was Taken,?It Was Just Like OURS,Same Size We W as At 5/92 Lichfield Road Up Cromwell Terrace Aston, There Was Eight Of Us IN that House, AND WE HAD A COOKER JUST LIKE YOURS, AS YOU SAY YOU COULDN,T SWING A CAT, BUT WE DID HAVE AN OLD FASHION BLACK OPEN FIRE GRATE WITH COMPARTMENTS TO COOK OUR GRUB ON AND WE HAD THE OLD GAS MANTLE WITH THE PULL CHAIN FOR ON AND OFF LIGHTING ,, MY NAN LIVED DOWN WHITEHOUSE STREET ALONG FROM THE ASTON CROSS AND LICHFIELD ROAD GOT THE ELECTRIC LIGHT FITTED BEFORE OUR NAN IN WHITE HOUSE STREET , ASTONIAN ,;;;

Astonian, That photo was not of our house,that was a large kitchen compared to ours.
All we had downstairs was one room with a gas cooker in and fireplace
The door to the cellar was in the same room
and the door to the stairs was also in the same room
if you went to go down the cellar you had to sqeeze past a sink which was all the top of the cellar steps
If you tried to have a wash you could fall down the cellar steps
