Nortons had a large shop in Key Hill until redevelopment in the 1960s. It seems to have continued at Key Hill for a while when the new Perry Barr shop opened its doors. The Key Hill shop was fondly remembered with memories and comments in the specific thread here https://birminghamhistory.co.uk/forum/threads/nortons-of-key-hill.32493/

Their new shop opened in Perry Barr 1964. With this new shop, they took steps to attract younger customers. The opening was attended by Minnie Caldwell - the equivalent of a 'celebrity' today !

I think my mother went to the opening of Nortons in the Perry Barr precinct, I seem to remember her telling us about seeing the Coronation Street character Minnie Caldwell!
