Now I have not got a clue how old the things below are.
Prescription envolope and prescription which was inside
So would be chuffed if someone can tell me
What the prescription was for and the era it was issued
Prescription reads
4 grains  Calomel
72 grains Sub-nitrate of bismouth
48 grains Phenacetine

24 powders

Just clocked the telephone Number A.G 31 so its got to be a clue Acocks Green 31

Sylvia......................just how old do you think I am??????????????

I think this person ate well.................became contsipated and had gout..........maybe?

Sylvia, I know that but its the telephone number 31 so they was the first to get one (same year as the first) if ya know what I mean

It seems I have to apologise to Sue and Cromwell. Sue as our resident nurse I thought you would know the complaint for which the medicine was prescribed, not the age of the prescription. Cromwell, I was just pointing out the obvious re address, I don't know when telephones came to Acocks Green, one thing I noticed was the style of the print which is similar to a "Death Card" I have for a relative who died in the 1920's if that would help.

Cromwell BT have a archive. They may be able to date the phone number for you.I have used them in the past, founed them very helpful. The number you require is 020 74404220.

Robert Great Idea thanks, I will give it a go
BT now are on the Case

Good Service from B.T. Archives number listed in 1924 changed 10 years later
So Sylvia you were spot on, with it looking like a Death Card of 1920's. And I suppose the prescription was to suppose to make you better and they gave it to you in an envolope looking like a Death Card
Thoughtful.

Just came across a comercial directory for Acocks Green 1896. 2 chemists listed John Arthur Jessop and j Frost. both on the Warwick rd.Needhams must have arrived later.

in the 1949 Kelly's 1118 Warwick Road now Boots the Chemists, would that be the same shop
