Hi phil
i have only just pick up on this thread regarding the spotted dog
are you telling us the pub as finished for good ?
Thats a crying shame i can recall that pub from when i was a little kid
it was on the oppersite side of the rd facing my grand parents coffee shop from 1947 onwards and on the other corner was a little garage
with its old fashioned petrol pump my grand parents home and coffee shop was the first property on new cannal street to be demolished i do
not why even today thirty or forty years today they never built on the land oppersite the dog
the building that latifes owns was standing empty for about twenty years or more if not longer before they bought it
i used to look out the windows of the coffee house every sunday morning waiting for the cows or the sheep to be driven down new cannal street by the hundered all strech across the road wgen they was strolling along to go next door in the hide and skin yard dome would stop and stair in the window that pub and new cannal street have many strong memorys for me i am very sorry to see it go its a great loss
its all down to these trumped up planners i reckon i dont think it was a brewery pub it was years ago in 40-50,s thanks for puttpng that pic on phil i would not have leart of thr loss thats the problem living in worc,
i don,t always get the news of brum best wishes astonian ;;;;
