Hi I am trying to trace my family history. The family surname is NABI and I am looking for any relatives or long lost friends of my Father, James (Jim) Nabi - born in 1940s in Birmingham to Alice (nee Gardner/Gardener) and Ghulam Nabi.

Thank you so much for your help.

I think that may be correct for the marriage date. I am sorry but I don't understand what "3rd qtr 1944 Birmingham 6d 811" I would really appreciate it if you could clarify? I am all very new to this.

Unfortunately I don't think those are the birth details for my grandparents. I think my Grandfather was born in Iran and came over to England in the thirties and my Grandmother was born around 1914.

But I really appreciate your kindness in trying to help me, thanks again.

Hi there,3rd qtr 1944 Birmingham 6d 811" are the details you would use for ordering a copy of the certificate.

3rd qtr = Jul/Aug/Sept. 6d is the volume code for the registration district, these vary across the country, 811 is the page number in that volume, hope this is a bit clearer.
Can i suggest you click the link below and have read, it will give an idea how to get started and a basic knowledge of how/what/why

Col H - I am really not sure if they are connected to the family that lived in Catell Road. However i think it's likely as the address I have for them in the forties and 50s was only 2 miles away - Bullock Street. Does this ring any bells with you?

I remember a family of that name that lived in Shakespeare Rd Ladywood in the late 50's early 60's.
I'm sorry but I have no further information, I just remember the surname and recognise 1 or 2 of the first names.
