My darling daughter

rowan

Born a Brummie
Having a clearout today I came across this poem written 30 years ago,by me, after the birth of my darling daughter.I must admit a few tears rolled down my cheeks as I read it:)

As I look upon that little face
In slumber sweet and full of peace,
I recall a time I was in that place
With tourtured nightmares that never cease.

Memories of monsters crazed my dreams
At night too scared to sleep it seems.
Terror filled my fearful nights
Of tigers, snakes and rows and fights.

Of waking crying, needing care
but knowing that there's no one there.

I'm glad my child can slumber well,
For her, I'll dream the dreams of hell.
In the comfort of love and care
She knows her Mother is always there.

Sleep well my darling little one
For you, tomorrow shines the sun.
Should your dreams turn to fear
You'll always know that Mommy's here.

Rowan we all want our children to have more than we did but in your case it was much more because of your own experences. The poem was lovely. Have an enormouse hug and enjoy their visit.

Beautiful poem written to celebrate the arrival of your daughter. Enjoyed reading it very much indeed. I know the anticipation you are feeling to be able to see your daughter and her husband for their forthcoming visit.
Enjoy every moment as Les has said.
