Has anyone any info on William John Muddiman, born in 1896, Birminghman. His first job was at B.S.A, Montgomery St, Small Heath as a fitter. He married Ivy Sanders in 1920 in Aston. I believe he died in 1984 in the Coventry area.
He was my Grandfather who I never knew.
If anyone has any info no matter how small, I would be very grateful.
Many Thanks. :)

Re: William John Muddiman

From the electoral roll he seems (assuming it’s the same one) to be on the 1918 list of absent voters at 15 Crown road as 502340 Spr., R.E.. I assume the RE stands for royal engineers.
In 1920 and 1925 he is still at no 15 with his parents William John and Florence Ann Muddiman
In 1930 his parents (I assume its not him and his mother) are still at Crown road.
There is another William John Muddiman in 1920 who is with Nelly and Francis A Muddiman at 289 slade road
A William John Muddiman is at 230 court road, Erdington with Anastasia Teresa Muddiman in 1939.
No mention of an Ivy, so either I have the wrong ones or possibly Ivy was too young (I think under 30) in 1920 and 1925 to show on the rolls and then they moved out of Brum

Re: William John Muddiman

Not sure if you have this, but here is the marriage registration for them both. If you have the cert', or can get it, it will have an address on it, also their father's occupations.
That information will help if shared, for members to look up more details for you.

Re: William John Muddiman

Hi maz

I have found his army service record, there are over 30 documents plus his medal card. Looks like he was transfered on a number of occassions doing various jobs, Army Cyclist Core and Light Railway Workshop just to name two. He also spent 69 days in hospital after being shot. Some of these papers are in very poor condition but the others more than make up for them, a whealth of information.

Have sent you an Instant Message (top, right, under your name)

Re: William John Muddiman

Willaim J Muddiman married Anastasia T Prendergast
March 1918 Aston 6d 701

I cannot find reference to an Anastasia Teresa Prendergast but reference to
Anastasia Prendergast birth 1884 West Derby,Lancs
Anastasia Prendergast marriage ,1906 Aston
there are 2 male entries James Gough and John Morgan
Did she marry James Gough because there is Anastasia Gough around the correct age in West Derby 1911.?
If so why did she become Anastasia Prendergast again to marry William.?

The plot thickens, how many wives did he have? I assume Prendergast was her maiden name and that she kept going back to that between marriages???
